This was a first class experience from start to finish. We always felt welcome. We were met with a friendly greeting by every staff member we passed. The employees are the hotel's biggest asset. In every area of the hotel the staff was absolutely first class. While the whole breakfast crew was excellent, Nikolette's, ready smile and willingness to help were outstanding. The front desk personnel were great - always answering our questions thoroughly and making sure we were satisfied. We particularly appreciated Portila went through a lot of trouble helping us get boarding passes printed. There were many others who deserve mention but I did not think to get their names until it was too late. The location of the hotel is perfect. It is close to everything you need like sights, buses, and restaurants, yet far enough away from the chaos of some of the other tourist areas. If you are mobile, you can walk almost anywhere. If you are not, there is a bus that goes there. Our standard room was compact and really could have used a bit more storage. With the luggage rack and ironing board in the wardrobe, there was barely room for clothes or suitcases. The bathroom also could have used a way to actually hang up the towels that we wanted to reuse. There were plenty of lighting options in the room and adequate places for device charging. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the Doubletree to other travelers.

Excellent, helpful, knowledgeable staff. Clean, quiet rooms. Good location. Good value for money. Our stay in April 2024 was similar to our stay in this locale in 2019. Consistent excellence. Allowed us to keep one of our suitcases at hotel at no extra charge while we journeyed up to Inverness for four days. Staff very helpful in making restaurant selections and in procuring taxis for us. Greeted us with smiles every time we entered and always asked if we needed anything. Breakfast buffet has suitable choices.

Had a nice two night stay at the hotel which is situated at the bottom area of Edinburgh castle ,we had a king-size room which was welcoming and spacious ,this hotel has good facilities, and provides nice rooms with a plenty full breakfast ,rooms and tea and coffee facilities in the room and tv ,the 12 noon check out was a bonus ,which meant we weren't being rushed ,I would stay again ,very good .

Travelled with a family member with mobility issues. This necessitated some specialist kit be delivered the day before. I contacted reception and they were great. On arrival Andrés on reception very helpful with check in and explaining the accessible room. Staff were helpful all round. The Spanish (sorry my friend I didn’t catch your name!)staff member on the bar on our last night picked up that one of our party had a birthday and brought a cake out for them. The hotel is well located for the royal mile and the castle. Buffet breakfast was a great way to fuel up before a days walking around Scotlands fabulous capital. Hilton your staff are an asset Thanks!

We have just returned from our stay in Edinburgh - family of 4. Overall, for what we paid it was probably good enough but I wouldn't return. One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was that it was recommended for families. I would have to disagree mainly due to the lack of storage within the room. There were no drawers and nothing to put the case on - we were living out of a suitcase which wasn't ideal trying to find clothes etc. There was 1 hook in the bathroom and nowhere at all to hang towels or put toiletries - not even somewhere for the hand towel. The room layout was also very odd with the TV down at one end of the room so it couldn't be seen well from both beds. The location was quite good although we noticed quite a lot of strip clubs nearby, and our tour bus actually referred to the neighbourhood as "dodgy". It seemed fine to us though and was close to the castle and some restaurants. Perfect location for Usher Hall. There is a good car park close by for £15 a day. The thing that let this place down was the lack of cleanliness. Like another reviewer mentioned, behind our bathroom door was a collection of hair and dust. Likewise behind/under the sink on the floor. The bathroom floor looked like it really needed a good scrub. The surfaces were all dusty (such as the shelf where they had put glasses) and it just did not seem like much effort had been made to clean it at all. Likewise the bedroom floor was in desperate need to a good hoover and the curtains and were stained. I spent the whole trip telling the kids to get off the floor and trying to stop them putting clothes etc on the floor because it wasn't clean. Poor kids must have thought I was crazy. The towels and bedding seemed clean but the rest of the room was definitely not. The reception staff were all lovely and very helpful. I knew I wasn't coming to the Ritz but I really don't think there's an excuse for poor cleanliness, especially in this post-Covid era. Maybe we were just unlucky as most reviews seem to be very positive.
